Yarn Shopping

I am so excited. I decided to go yarn shopping this afternoon on Etsy and I found so many wonderful colors and textures from recycled materials - old sweaters, tshirts, and more - to buy from. I purchased this lovely skein called Bell Pepper in Handknits by Joselyn. I cannot wait to find something awesome to do with it. Will it be more hats? These colors would make AWESOME baby earflap hats! Or perhaps a scarf? It will just have to tell me when it gets here.

She has a lot more yarn that I'm interested in buying. I've "hearted" her so I'll be checking back often.

So, for now my yarn shopping trip is over but I'm sure the bug will call again. If anyone knew about how much yarn I already have at home you'd shoot me for making this purchase but I just couldn't pass it up. :)

Things I'd Love To Work On

I’ve been a little crazy so I thought I’d make a list of some of the things I would like to work on.

1. I need to finish an order for some hats. This is my priority because, hello, it’s an order.
2. I’d love to create more ear flap hats for my shop so that once I get my pictures up I can put lots of different ones in my shop right away. Having things in stock makes it a LOT easier.
3. Create more Flat top hats…as well as elf hats. These are super cute and most of the ETSY world doesn’t even know I make them!
4. I would love to add more washcloths and body puffs. I have cotton yarn to do it even! I just don’t have time!
5. Baby Booties. I’m sure they would sell excellently paired with my original $5 beanies.
6. I have about 4 or 5 patterns I haven’t even touched! I’d love to work on something NEW.

That’s enough to have on my to do list don’t you think??? LOL.

Alright, here’s a poll to see if anyone is reading. Out of these items which one would you like to see in the shop first???

1. Flat top hats with pom poms
2. Elf Hats
3. Baby booties
4. Ear flap hats

Thanks for the opinions!

Mistakes Make Great Hats!

Our month without Daddy is soon coming to an end and he'll be coming home tomorrow! I have to say it has been a pretty crazy month and I've had my meltdowns but when push comes to shove I'm pretty lucky to have such a good kid. His puppy is pretty awesome too. Sometimes, they even take a break at the same time to give me a minute of peace.

Currently, Nathan is watching one of my favorite all time movies, Little Rascals. It has some of the best one liners. Once he remembers he has it we watch it at least 3 times before he asks to go back to cartoons or another movie. I am going to try and stick to just once tonight before bedtime since it's already almost 9pm.

In other news. I made a mistake this evening while making a hat. It turned out to be a pretty awesome mistake. Someone has ordered some beanies for their photography studio and would like a few in 4 year old size. This size is always rough for me and I normally go too small or too large. This time I went too large. I decided to add a visor to it and it came out awesome! I really like it. I'm going to send it to her anyways to match her 2 month old daughter and 4 year old daughter. Maybe they can get a great pic of the 3 of them in their hats?!

It makes me look like I almost tried to do something with myself today! Give me a break, please. I've had a rough month!

Photographer Spotlight

Suzanne Hunt is a photographer in Southern California. She's is amazing at capturing color and playfulness in her photography. She's wonderful with babies, amazing with children, and great at capturing special moments with couples.

Lucky for me, she's also a friend of mine from high school who was willing to take photographs of my hats for my websites. Here's some special ones from her photo shoot.

I can't wait to get these on my Etsy site so they'll be available for purchase. She had such a wonderful way of bringing out their colors. Her adorible children made them look great.

You can find more of Suzanne's work at www.somethingmephotography.com. She has a wonderful way of connecting to her clients and getting them exactly what they're looking for. Be sure to check her out!

Thank you Suzanne for the photoshoot!!!

On A Roll...

New listings are up! I have a few boy beanies that are now up. I'm working on some really awesome earflap hats and I can't wait to get them on my site. I also have been making some diaper covers.

They're really cute but I can't figure out how to get them to attach. I need to sew on some buttons to one that I made, but of course I can't find my needle and thread to save my life. Oh jeeze.

Hopefully I can find them soon and get them shipped out. Next I'm going to play with some beautiful baby blue fuzzy yarn. I'm sure it would make some adorible hats that would be perfect for photography :)

Something Small But Fun

I just finished this earflap hat tonight. It felt so good to play with colors and come up with something small and quick but also different then what I've been doing.

It's not that I don't love doing beanies, but I was getting burned out so I had to toss this into the mix. I've been working on a ton of custom orders and I just have one more to do before I'm done. Once I'm done I'll be back to updating Etsy regularly and blogging...doing what I can to get an order :) I've been really fortunate this month.

Speaking of fortunate...I've heard some great news that I'm going to be an AUNT again! My sister-in-law and her husband are adopting a little boy in November. His name will be Caleb. We're all so very happy for them, and totally excited to have another little boy in the crew.

Molly is doing well here and is getting more part of the family each day. She's also biting a lot now and had trouble picking on Nathan too much. She just loves him, but doesn't understand her own strength when it comes to the nipping...soon we will have classes to take care of that!

This weekend we're hanging out with friends, have a birthday party to attend, and I'll be working on the last custom order. Then I get to try out my new pattern for a diaper cover, beanie, and booties set!

Busy Week!

I've been horrible about updating this past week! It has been a crazy week at work and at home with my husband gone for work for the next week and a half :) Let's just say puppies are a lot like kids and sometimes it is worse because you can't put a diaper on them. Well you could, but I'm just not that kind of a person to have a diaper on a puppy!

I'll work on getting an update blog done tonight. If the moon is aligned right with the stars, child decides to sleep, and doggie stops eating all my yarn it will be a go! LOL. I'll work on it!

New Beanie Colors!

Wow has this week been busy! With a new puppy in the home, things are a little nuts around here! However, I was still able to get three of these done for a new listing on Etsy. I really love these colors.

I'll need to retake the pics eventually. They're just not that good. I don't have time to do that right now though with the orders I'm supposed to be getting out! Oh, and did I mention the puppy?! They're a lot of work...but she's worth it!

As you can see from this picture, Nathan is very much in love with Molly. They have a great time together.

I'm off to get some sleep. Tomorrow I start the order frenzy. I have 5 hats to make right now, not to mention all the other things I want to start with some new patterns I just got! Hopefully, I can get a lot done this weekend too!

Meet Molly...

Molly is our new Labrador Beagle Mix! She's 10 weeks old and the most adorable puppy I've ever gotten to cuddle with. Mike brought her home last night as a surprise. She's the best cuddler in the world. Nathan was SO EXCITED to see her this morning. He wasn't at all interested in going to school. Here he is with her.

With all this puppy business I am one beanie away from finishing a new listing for my shop. I'm in love with these varieties of colors. It's my traditional beanie style, which had been selling very well this past month, in a new color choice. I can't wait to get them listed and see how well they do! I'll post pics this evening once I get them completed!

Vacation!

Well, lucky me! In just 2-3 hours I'll be on the road to vacation! I'm so excited as I'll be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in a year or possibly many YEARS! It will take about 8 hours to drive where we're going but we should be there by tonight and resting in a hotel room of our own...kidless. I wish we were bringing the little guy but I'm going to take this time to recharge with the hubster and have some fun adult time.

No worries, I'll be crocheting in the car with some items that are sure to make the Etsy shop when I get home on Monday! Here's to a WONDERFUL weekend for everyone!

Happy 4th of July!
