A Great Weekend and Some Flat Top Hats

My best friend was in town this weekend. She lives in California, where I grew up. I live in Minnesota where I moved after I married. We get to hang out about twice a year. Few and far between, but we have some great times when we're together. We got our hair done, pedicures, and some much needed time out on the town. It was a ton of fun.

Surprisingly, I still had some time to work on a few new hats for a custom order. I plan to make more of these and have them in my shop soon. They're flat top hats, used mostly in photography studios. I had a great time making these up. She picked out some great color combinations.

I really love the brown and blue together. I will be using that combination for some more beanies and hats to carry in my store.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

The Pattern, The Yarn, or Just Me Being Up Late???

I'm pretty bummed! Last night I stayed up late to finish a hat for my son. It's a visor beanie I've made before but this time I was using cotton yarn. Bad news is it's too small. I think I might have used the 2T directions instead of the 3T - Teen:( I'll be working on it tonight and if it fits I'll get pictures! It's really cute, even though it's small. LOL.

Tonight the Best Friend comes into town! I'm so excited but expect a lack of blogging and productivity in general. She's leaving Monday so it wont be too long of a hiatus. :)

My Bookend!

I cannot wait! Two more days (well technically 36 hours from now) my BEST FRIEND will be in town!!! She's more than a Best Friend, she's my bookend. We really complete eachother and both being fairly comedic, we also feed off eachother. It's going to be exciting to have her around for a few days since things have been so crazy!

I just bought a BUNCH of really awesome cards from a great shop that I think you should know about. She has a good deal on shipping this month! I bought a Fathers Day card from her shop and it was AWESOME. Very well made. I was so impressed that I picked up 6 more cards today!

My Weekend Goal

Personal weekend goal: Get all the hats done I'd like to send to Suzanne who's going to photograph them for my shop. I got a really great critique done on the Etsy forum by people who suggested I start using natural light for my pictures. Agreed! So, hopefully my pictures start looking more professional so I can start getting more sales!

I did reach the 10 sale mark today. WOOT! I'm excited.

Weekend, here I come!

Boooo to my camera

This is why I can wait to get my items professionally photographed! It's so hard to capture the colors when they end up looking like this. This beanie is so cute! It's going to be a hard sell looking so whacked out though. Soon I'll have it shipped off and getting a make over. I can't wait!

1st Custom Order

I'm so thrilled with my first custom order! The customer asked for specific baby beanies which I was more than happy to provide but also asked if I did booties to match. I hadn't done booties before but I was more than happy to give it a go. One of my favorite pattern shops is Hectanooga and she was able to provide me with a very simple pattern to complete the project. I'm excited I was still able to complete the project in the time I first gave the customer for just the beanies! However, I did have one of them in stock already :)

I've sent her the pictures and we'll see how she likes the sets. Once approved I'll list them and go from there! So exciting!

I also still have many more earflap hats to complete! Here's a pic a friend of mine took of her kids wearing two of my creations. Aren't they adorible?

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

I love the rain but today it is really bogging me down. I'm not sure if it is the weather or I'm catching something but it has been hard to keep up today.

I got a few more earflap hats done this weekend and I plan to take pictures and even list them on Etsy in the next few days. My friend is actually going to have her daughter help me out and take the pictures on her little sisters. This will work until I can get my friend, a professional photographer, to take the pictures. I'm very excited about how they're all turning out.

Other then that I've been purchasing some Father's Day cards and keeping my eye on this purse that I am dying to buy.

My friend bought one from the same shop and it's great quality. I just need a little more time to save up!

Hats!

Here's What I've been working on lately. I'm going to send these pictures to my friend and see if this is what she's looking for, for her studio. If anything, she's going to take professional pictures of them so that I can post them on my Etsy site!

Under Construction

I have been so busy I've been unable to really work on all the new patterns I have! I'm so sad! I have a ton of new hat patterns and I've been working slowly on a few. I have 2 infant newsboy hats that I need to list that are adorible but I haven't even had time to take pictures of them!!! I hope to catch up this weekend. I also have to really work on my hats for my friend's photography studio. I plan on getting some more supplies this weekend. I also just purchased some great yarn from ETSY for a few creations I have planned. I can't wait to get lost in yarn again this weekend!
